Date/time: Thursday, March 12, 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM New York time (recording provided afterward)
Description: This is a one-session master class; everyone who registers will also receive a link to a recording of the master class after the live class happens.
This master class builds on part one of Interpreting for Depositions that was presented in January 2020, and will go into areas that were not covered in the first session, including:
- Best practices for check interpreters and concrete examples of improving into-English renditions
- How to deal with specific types of conflict with attorneys and other parties
- How to ensure that the court reporter gets a good record
- How to deal with requests for stand-by interpreting, and many other topics.
In addition, the instructor will provide terminology lists (in English) that interpreters can expect for all parts of the deposition using the example of a car accident with injuries. Judy will also discuss detailed renditions from actual depositions (anonymized) and explain how certain problems could have been avoided – and will share some of her favorite mistakes that she’s made along the way. As the basics of a deposition will not be covered, it is highly recommended that attendees either have previous knowledge of the basic process or have attended and/or watched the previous webinar.
