Description: Translating official documents for individual clients can be a lucrative and interesting revenue stream for freelance translators in almost any language combination. However, many translators avoid this type of work because they wonder what types of documents will be requested, they aren’t sure what the requirements for a “certified translation” are, or they don’t want to get bogged down in price and deadline negotiations with individual clients. In this two-hour master class, you’ll learn:
-Why and how to offer this type of service
-How to market your services to individuals, law firms, and credentials evaluation services
-How to determine whether you are qualified to certify a particular type of translation
-Pitfalls and best practices of translating the most commonly requested documents, including vital records documents, driver’s licenses, and educational records (French to English examples will be used, but the principles are applicable to any language)
-How to work successfully with individual clients, including billing and terms of service
Registration includes:
-Live master class via Zoom
-Recording provided after the live session
