Speaking of Translation goes webinar

Back in 2008, my colleague Eve Bodeux and I launched the podcast Speaking of Translation and over the years we’ve gotten some very nice feedback on it. To our knowledge SoT is the only podcast dedicated exclusively to translation and the business of translation. Breaking news: Speaking of Translation is going webinar! All of our podcasts will remain on line (free, of course!) while we branch out into a new and more interactive direction for 2011. I’m up first on January 26 at noon Eastern Time with Beyond the Basics of Freelancing, based on my sold-out preconference seminar at the 2010 ATA conference. In February we’ll be offering an introduction to social media for translators, then we’ll see where the webinar currents take us! My Beyond the Basics webinar costs $35 through January 16 and $40 after that. Hope to see some of you there!

    Hi Corinne,

Good luck with the SoT webinars!

Actually, there is another translation podcast I am aware of. It’s a project that was started earlier this year by a literary translator and two interpreters-translators who are also very active in the usual social media platforms. They talk about everything that concerns our lives as professional translators and interpreters. They also interview people and their 7 episodes so far are long and good-humored.

OK, here’s the ‘bad’ news: it’s only available in Brazilian Portuguese. Anyway, I’m giving you the link here just in case someone who is reading this and understands Portuguese might want to check it out:

      Hi Corinne, hi Eve!

Actually I was interviewed by SoT in Orlando in 2008 and this was one of the things that boosted us to create Tradcast in Brazil. I talked to Eve in Denver and I promised to send her the link to our podcast, but Fabio was faster (thanks Fabio!). Yeah, it is in Portuguese, and it was really challenging in the last two months for us to get together and plan for the next episodes, so I am afraid we’ll only have the chance to update it in January. We’ll keep you informed. Keep up with the good job!

    Congratulations Corinne.

Hope it goes well. I’ve also been producing podcast editions of tranfree since relaunch in March 2010.

It also serves as an excellent proofing tool. I spotted two errors in the current edition when recording it for the podcast.

    Good luck with the webinars.

    Alex
