Certified French to English translations

Corinne McKay, CT, ATA-certified French to English translator

Contact: corinne@translatewrite.com (N’hésitez pas à me contacter en français)

Since 2003, I have been providing certified French to English translations of personal and official documents, as an American Translators Association-certified French to English translator (verifiable on my ATA profile, here). With 20+ years of experience and over 2,500 pages of official documents translated, I work with individuals, law firms credentials evaluation agencies, international relocation firms, universities, and similar clients, providing certified French to English translations for submission to USCIS and other entities. I am a dual citizen of the U.S. and Switzerland.

I provide other language services as well, in addition to running the online professional development platform Training for Translators. I am a court-certified French<>English interpreter, and I hold a Master of Conference Interpreting from Glendon College, and I’ve translated six non-fiction books. This page specifically highlights my French to English official document translation services, because it can be challenging to find certified translators who work with individual clients.

Types of documents I translate

  • Birth certificates
  • Livrets de Famille
  • Driver’s licenses
  • Actes notariaux
  • Educational diplomas and transcripts
  • Estate documents
  • Adoption documents
  • Property purchase and sale agreements

What is a certified translation?

In the United States, it depends! As explained here by the American Translators Association, the United States does not have a standard definition of a certified translation, nor do we have the sworn translator/traducteur/traductrice juré(e) designation that exists in many European countries.

A certified translation must always be accompanied by a certificate of accuracy, signed by the translator. The safest option is typically to use an ATA-certified translator, showing that you did your due diligence and hired a certified professional translator. My fees include a certificate of accuracy with my ATA-certified translator seal on it.

How much do certified French to English translations cost?

Contact me at corinne@translatewrite.com for a quote; I need to see your document(s) before giving you a firm quote and a turnaround time, but I typically charge US $100 if you have only one page, US $75 per page for two to four pages, and US $50 per page for five pages or more, but these rates may be higher for documents with handwriting or particularly small type.

Most projects of three or fewer pages can be completed within two business days of receiving your payment; I accept all major credit cards and Zelle.
