To my knowledge, Nevada hasn’t ever had its own association for translators and interpreters, and we all know what a help it is to connect with our local colleagues! Karen Tkaczyk sent me the link to the recently formed NITA (Nevada Interpreters and Translators Association), which seems to be offering a nice range of events for Nevada-based language professionals.
Thanks for your post, Corinne! I am very excited about it, too, and if all goes well tomorrow, I will be a board member of NITA and will represent Vegas. It’s very exciting to be part of a new organization. Perhaps we can learn a thing or two from the president of the Colorado association….
@Judy, no problem, and congratulations for launching the Vegas chapter of NITA! Don’t worry, the only secret to being a good association leader is to have lots of social events to get the members out of the house, you’ll do great!
Hi Corinne,
Judy and I are both on the NITA board now, Judy having taken a PR position and me as interim VP. The existing members include well-established and well-qualified legal and medical interpreters so there is a good variety of T&I professsionals.
