Online course/Lexiophiles awards

A couple of announcements from the Thoughts on Translation world headquarters:

• The next session of my popular online course Getting Started as a Freelance Translator starts on Monday, and I have 3 spots left. This is a ground-up course for people with little or no experience as freelancers: you receive 6 PDF lessons, each including a homework assignment that you complete and send to me. I give you individualized feedback on your homework (for example writing your translation-targeted resumé and cover letter, preparing a marketing plan, identifying potential specializations and setting your rates and payment terms) and you’re also welcome to correspond with me about any additional questions that you have. The cost is $350 and there’s a $50 discount for members of the American Translators Association. You can also read feedback from previous students here. Note that this will be the last session of the course in its current format and at the current price; starting in August I’ll be offering a personalized coaching program using the second edition of my book How to Succeed as a Freelance Translator.
