Free book launch webinar

On Friday, June 24 at 9 AM Mountain (Denver) Time, Eve Bodeux and I will be presenting a free webinar to launch the second edition of my book “How to Succeed as a Freelance Translator.” With over 4,500 copies in print, the first edition of the book has become a go-to reference for beginning and experienced freelance translators alike. In this 30-minute webinar, we’ll discuss what’s new in the second edition, a few of my top tips for freelance success and some insights into the self-publishing process. Eve will interview me for about 15 minutes and then we’ll take questions from the audience for about 15 minutes. Better yet, we’ll be raffling off two copies of the book! You can read more details about this webinar on our website, or if you’re sure you want to attend, go ahead and register on our WebEx portal (click “Book Launch Webinar”).

We have space for up to 100 attendees, so feel free to forward this to any friends or colleagues who might be interested.

I’ve just received the book I ordered. I am so excited! I’ll start reading it as soon as possible and I am sure I will find interesting suggestions. I’ll forward this message to my friends and collegues and I hope I will be able to take part to the webinar too. It would be great!

About How to Succeed as a Freelance Translator (Second Edition) by Corinne Mckay

Nine months ago I purchased the first edition (printed) of Mckay’s book because I wanted to become a freelance translator/interpreter and I did not know how to launch my business. Today I feel very happy to write some words about its second edition and why it is a must for those who are absolutely lost to start being a freelance linguist or just need worthy tips to grow in the translation industry.
The first edition was the first book I read about translation and it was a milestone in my life. It guided me from zero. I have learned how to write a CV target to translation agencies, an invoice, a cover letter, for example. Then I launched my website. I gained business, marketing and translation information which were and are useful for my professional life. I have acquired a second source of income apart from my full-time job. How to Succeed as a Freelance Translator transformed my wish to earn money as a professional translator in reality. Having read it, I bought other books, read articles, attended webinars, joined translators/interpreters associations but I consider Corinne Mckay’s book an essential starting tool for those interested to translate part or full-time.
The second edition (printed and digital) contains new chapters – Your first year as a freelance translator, Online networking and social media, Marketing to agencies and marketing to direct clients. I am introducing what I have just learned from them in my business. Also, I am visiting the websites listed at the end of the chapters.
Finally, I highly recommend you read the 2011 edition if you are bilingual, wish to work from home and aim to succeed as a freelance translator.
