Podcast: maintaining your second (third, etc.) language

In this episode of Speaking of Translation, Eve and Corinne discuss strategies for maintaining your second (or third, or fourth…) language. As translators, we often struggle to maintain our active speaking and writing skills in our non-native languages. Those of us who live in our source language countries may even struggle to keep our native language skills current. We discuss various ways to maintain or improve your language skills, including some ways to practice a language that you are still learning.

Very interesting article, Corinne, as always !
I can definitely relate to the struggle of maintaining my own native language, which sucks as a translator…
I don’t live in either my source or target language country !
    Tough. The struggle is real.

Thanks Sophie! Except that if you live in neither your source nor target country, you have the chance to learn yet another language!

You’re right! And as a linguist, that is an excellent opportunity 🙂

Thank you Corinne and Eve for this excellent podcast!

Corinne, if you like to listen to French cultural programs, you may like Augustin Trapenard’s “Boomerang”, from France Inter radio: https://www.franceinter.fr/emissions/boomerang

Every day, he invites someone from the cultural world (writers, singers, actors), and I find the program very pleasant to listen.
