As of this morning, Thoughts on Translation: the book is officially available on Amazon! In case you missed the original announcement, the book is a 150-page compilation of posts from this blog, organized by category for easy reference. All of the posts in the book are still active on this blog, so if reading the book inspires you to add your own thoughts to the discussion, please comment away! And of course you can also buy Thoughts on Translation from the publisher, Lulu and electronic versions (Kindle, iPad, Nook, etc.) are coming soon as well!

Eve Bodeux and I co-host an occasional–meaning: whenever a topic strikes us and we have time to cover it!–series of podcasts and conference calls, entitled Speaking of Translation. We have a page of recordings that goes back to 2008–in case you missed the ATA conference in Orlando!–and the technological back-end is now completely updated. I’ve been threatening to compile a book of my blog entries for some time, and it looks like it’s finally going to happen! I just ordered the final proof copy of Thoughts on Translation, and here’s the cover, designed by the incomparable Sue Campbell. Sue is a fellow Coloradoan and I found her through our local freelancers’ group, Boulder Media Women. I have a hard time working on the design aspects of any project, because I’m not a very visual person (hence the reason I live in a house with white walls and frequently wear jeans with black t-shirts!). Sue “got” my project right from the start and gave me a buffet of beautiful and creative designs to choose from. Here’s the one I went with…can you tell that blue is my favorite color? And Sue even reworked my 2 Rat Books logo–sentimental to me because my husband drew it–into a “real” logo that I can splash on all kinds of things. The print edition of the book should be available in about a month, and the Kindle/iPad/Nook/etc. versions will follow shortly after that.

The books have all been claimed; thanks to everyone who responded. The response (over 50 people) was much greater than I had anticipated, so I’m sorry that I don’t have more than 7 books to give away!
